Steven Gerrard says that Luis Suarez's desire to leave Liverpool has nothing to do with the British media, despite the Uruguayan's claims.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has disregarded Luis Suarez's claims that he wants to leave the club due to the constant scrutiny from the British media.

The Uruguay international previously stated that he has grown weary of life in England, stating that the press have been negative towards him due to a number of controversial incidents.

"You're going to get all kinds of teams wanting to pull you away, especially when you are at a club not in the Champions League," Gerrard told The Telegraph.

"It's nothing to do with the British media [criticising Suarez]. Knowing the guy as I do, that's probably the thing on his mind - wanting to be in the Champions League."

Arsenal are said to be the only club who have made a bid for Suarez with a rejected £40,000,001m offer.
