Liverpool confirm the sale of Andy Carroll to West Ham United.

Liverpool have confirmed that they have sold England striker Andy Carroll to West Ham United.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at the Hammers, scoring seven goals in 24 appearances for the London outfit.

A statement on Liverpool's official website read: "Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that Andy Carroll has completed a permanent transfer to West Ham United."

"Carroll joined Liverpool from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day in January 2011. In total, he played 58 games for the Reds and scored 11 times.

"Everybody at Liverpool FC would like to wish Andy all the best for the future."

It is understood that the forward has agreed a six-year contract with West Ham.
