Liverpool 'in £15m Xherdan Shaqiri swoop'

Liverpool will reportedly move for Bayern Munich's Xherdan Shaqiri, who is a £15m target.

Liverpool are mulling an approach for Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri to bolster their squad for next season's Champions League campaign, according to reports.

The Reds have been heavily linked with Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana, with the England international said to be close to completing a £20m-plus switch to Anfield.

However, the Liverpool Echo claims that manager Brendan Rodgers is assessing his options with the Saints said to be unwilling to let the playmaker leave cheaply and Shaqiri has emerged as a viable alternative.

Furthermore, it may cost as little as £15m to prise the Swiss attacker away from the defending European champions.

It is also reported that Rodgers has earmarked Saints defender Dejan Lovren as a key target this summer.
