Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has quashed reports claiming that the club have agreed to sign Will Hughes from Derby County in January.
The Merseyside outfit, who have been linked with the promising 18-year-old for some time, were reported to have agreed a £12m fee with the Championship outfit.
However, the Northern Irishman has insisted that the club have not made a move and that it is purely speculation.
"I feel for this young guy," Rodgers said in a press conference. "He's a very talented young player. People aren't doing him any favours linking him with a move to Liverpool all the time. There's been no bid or deal agreed. He's at the best place he could be."
Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with the youngster.
