Preview: Livingston vs. Aberdeen - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Scottish Premiership clash between Livingston and Aberdeen, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Livingston will attempt to extend their positive run of form in the Scottish Premiership this weekend when they take on Aberdeen at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

The hosts return to home soil following a victory away at Kilmarnock, while the visitors arrive in West Lothian off the back of a comfortable win over Hibernian.

Livingston have made a promising impact on the 2022-23 campaign so far, occupying sixth in the Premiership ranks with 19 points from 13 matches.

The Lions are on a decent run in the league, losing just once in their last four matches under David Martindale, who has his side punching well above expectation once again.

Last time out, Livingston achieved an excellent victory at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock, as goals from Bruce Anderson, Sean Kelly and an own goal from Chris Stokes secured three points on the road in Ayrshire.

Nevertheless, Livingston have not kept a clean sheet in their last three matches, which Martindale will hope to improve upon when Aberdeen come calling on Tuesday.

Should Livingston make it two consecutive wins, they could go as high as fourth in the table, depending on other results.

Aberdeen make their way to Livingston sitting third in the Premiership table on 22 points and will be looking to take another step towards continental qualification with a triumph on Tuesday night.

Jim Goodwin has made a real impression at Pittodrie this campaign, with his side playing an entertaining style of football that has culminated in the Dons netting 27 times in the league from 13 matches.

Their ruthless nature in front of goal was on full display in their last encounter against Hibernian last week, as a double from Bojan Miovski and strikes from Ylber Ramadani and Leighton Clarkson resulted in a dominant 4-1 triumph for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen have conceded 21 league goals this season, however, which will need to improve as they look to move closer to Rangers, who currently occupy second in the league table.

Goodwin will be desperate for another positive performance in midweek against a difficult opponent as Aberdeen look to continue their commendable run of form.

Team News

Kelle Roos in action for Aberdeen on July 31, 2022© Reuters

Livingston will be without defender Tom Parkes for the visit of Aberdeen as the long-term absentee is still suffering from a knee injury.

Jamie Brandon is also likely to miss out for the hosts due to a groin concern that has ruled him out of several matches.

For the visitors, Jonny Hayes will not partake at the Tony Macaroni Arena as he continues his recovery from a groin strain.

Callum Roberts is also unavailable for the trip to West Lothian as he is nursing a hamstring injury that has kept him out of contention since early August.

Livingston possible starting lineup:
George; Devlin, Obileye, Fitzwater, Longridge; Kelly; Pittman, Kelly; Bahamboula, Nouble, Anderson

Aberdeen possible starting lineup:
Roos; McCrorie, Stewart, Scales; Richardson, Barron, Ramadani, Clarkson, Coulson; Lopes, Miovski
