Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Borussia Dortmund

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Champions League group-stage clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester City will aim to continue their perfect start to the 2022-23 Champions League when they welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad for Wednesday's Group G battle.

The Citizens eased to a 4-0 success over a struggling Sevilla side on matchday one, with Erling Braut Haaland netting twice alongside strikes from Phil Foden and Ruben Dias.

Pep Guardiola's side were scheduled to continue the defence of their Premier League title against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, but all fixtures were postponed following Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Dortmund, who eased to a 3-0 win over Copenhagen last week.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: October 11 (vs. Copenhagen)

Guardiola has revealed that Aymeric Laporte is unlikely to return to training before the international break as he recovers from a knee injury, but as things stand he is City's only definite absentee for this match.

Kyle Walker

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Dortmund)

Kyle Walker was forced off in the latter stages of the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last weekend due to an unspecified issue, and while the problem is not a serious one, Guardiola could not confidently predict when the right-back would return.

John Stones

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Dortmund)

John Stones was another absentee for the clash with Sevilla due to a muscular injury, and is the case with Walker, the England international could be fit to return either this week or further down the line.
