Daniel Van Buyten believes that Bayern Munich should give their all to knock Manchester City out of the Champions League tomorrow evening.

Bayern Munich defender Daniel Van Buyten is hoping that the German club defeat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow evening.

A loss for Roberto Mancini's City will see them exit the Champions League at the group stages, allowing Munich and Italian club Napoli to advance.

Despite already securing their qualification to the last 16, Van Buyten believes that Munich should give their all to knock City out to avoid facing the Premier League leaders later in the competition.

"Manchester City have so much potential and excellent players. They could be nasty opponents later in the competition. Eliminating them would be a bonus," Van Buyten told the club's official website.

"They're in great shape and still have a small chance, although it's no longer in their own hands. They urgently need a good result, and then they're hoping Napoli drop points.

"In Munich, City showed lots of desire and really went for an early goal. We are Bayern Munich, though, so we have to give a good account of ourselves."

Munich ran out 2-0 winners when the sides met in the Allianz Arena in September.
