Pep Guardiola provides Kevin De Bruyne injury update

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that Kevin De Bruyne is "progressing well" as the attacker looks to overcome a knee problem.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that Kevin De Bruyne is "progressing well" as the attacker looks to overcome the knee problem that he suffered last month.

De Bruyne suffered a lateral collateral ligament injury during a training session in August, and had been tipped to miss at least three months despite avoiding the need for surgery.

The 27-year-old is well ahead of schedule in his recovery though, having already returned to first-team training.

De Bruyne will play no part in City's Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday but is seemingly nearing a return.

"[De Bruyne's injury is] progressing well. He's not fit for tomorrow but he's progressing well," Guardiola told reporters.

The Belgium international scored 12 times and registered 21 assists in 52 appearances for the Citizens last season.
