Kevin De Bruyne will reportedly miss out on the possibility of earning £2.5m as a result of Manchester City's ban from European football.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne reportedly faces the prospect of missing out on £2.5m.

On Friday, UEFA announced that City had been banned from European competitions for two years due to to a serious breach of financial regulations.

While Pep Guardiola and Raheem Sterling have reiterated their commitment to the club, it remains to be seen how other key men will react in the coming months.

According to HLN, the development will result in De Bruyne taking a financial hit with regards to his contract, which includes bonuses related to the Champions League.

The report claims that De Bruyne, who holds a contract until 2023, could lose the opportunity to earn an extra £2.5m.

City plan to appeal the punishment, with UEFA also handing the club a fine of £25m.
