Roberto Mancini rules out a return for Carlos Tevez but is hopeful that the transfer saga will end "very quickly".

Roberto Mancini has claimed that Carlos Tevez returning to Manchester City is an "impossible" scenario.

The Argentina international has been embroiled in a lengthy transfer saga, with AC Milan initially being the frontrunners to sign the 27-year-old.

Earlier this month news emerged that a proposed deal to the San Siro had collapsed, which alerted French outfit Paris Saint-Germain to enter the fray.

City assistant manager David Platt recently claimed that there could be a way back for the controversial star. However, Mancini has quashed such suggestions, stating that the frontman wants out of the North West.

"I hope this will finish very quickly," said Mancini. "I don't know [the latest]. I think he has talked with PSG and Inter, but not Milan. I hope for him everything can finish very quickly.

"[Returning to City] is impossible. Carlos doesn't want to stay. It is important for him to start to play because he is a football player. It is now three months that he hasn't played and this is not good for him."

Tevez sparked controversy after flying to South America without permission from the Premier League leaders.
