Manuel Pellegrini: 'Manchester City are in a good position'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes that his side are in a "good position" to challenge for the title at the halfway stage of the season.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that his side are in a "good position" at the halfway stage of the Premier League season.

City currently sit third in the table on 35 points, fewer than at the same stage of their two previous title-winning campaigns but still only three points adrift of Arsenal and Leicester City.

Pellegrini admitted that he would rather be in the position of the league-leading Gunners, but believes that his side have a good platform from which they can push for a third Premier League crown.

"Of course we are in a good position. Always the best position is to be top of the table but I think that this is a special season in the Premier League," he told reporters.

"With the amount of points we have at this moment, it is not good to fight for the title in a normal season, but we are now just three points behind the leaders. I hope we are going to complete with a very good second part of the season."

Man City next take on in-form Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening.
