Manchester City defender Micah Richards could make an early return from an ankle injury.

Manchester City defender Micah Richards could make his return from an ankle injury by the end of the month.

The 24-year-old was injured playing for Team GB in the Olympics and has been sidelined for the start of the Premier League season.

It was first feared that Richards would be missing for the first 10 weeks, but the Daily Mail reports that he could now be back in time for the start of Citizens' Champions League campaign.

The England international made 23 Premier League appearances last season.
