Ruud van Nistelrooy believes that Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini would be a success should he take charge of Manchester City.
City are searching for a new manager having sacked Roberto Mancini on Wednesday after failing to win a trophy this season, exactly a year after he won City's first Premier League title as well the FA Cup the previous campaign.
The former Manchester United striker, who worked under Pellegrini at Malaga, is certain that his old boss could be a hit in the Premier League.
"Pellegrini is one of the best coaches I worked under. He's a big strategist but nothing like Mancini," Van Nistelrooy told The Sun.
"He's always in conversation with his squad, offering plenty of chances to young players.
"That characterises his quality work and he'll be good value in the Premier League."
Pellegrini recently denied that an agreement is in place for him to take charge at the Etihad Stadium.
