Pablo Zabaleta: 'Frank Lampard playing like he's 18'

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta hails Frank Lampard's longevity in football, claiming that the veteran is as sharp as players half his age.

Pablo Zabaleta has hailed Manchester City teammate Frank Lampard for his hunger, and claims that the veteran midfielder is still playing like an 18-year-old.

The 36-year-old - on loan from New York City FC - came off the bench to net his fifth goal for the Sky Blues in Sunday's 3-0 win away to Southampton.

The Chelsea legend picked up every possible winners' medal in an illustrious 13-year spell at Stamford Bridge, and Zabaleta says that it is refreshing to see him as hungry as ever.

"For me what makes Frank Lampard special is how professional he is in training - this is what I appreciate from him," the Argentine told BT Sport.

"You see him at training: he is the first to arrive on the training ground and the last to go home.

"He won everything with Chelsea, he's a legend in football and he's still playing like he's 18 years old."

Manuel Pellegrini's side sit six points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.
