Manchester City are reportedly preparing a £30m bid for Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria.
City have already agreed a deal to sign Sevilla's Jesus Navas, but will also move for the Argentine as they look to improve their wide options.
According to The Mirror, incoming boss Manuel Pellegrini has sanctioned the move, which would take City's summer spending to over £80m already.
In addition to Navas, they have agreed to sign Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk and are believed to be close to signing Spain Under-21 star Isco.
The report suggests that Madrid are not desperate to sell, and Carlo Ancelotti, who is expected to be named their new coach, sees Di Maria as an important part of his plans.
On top of that, the player himself insisted this week that he is not looking to leave the club.
Nevertheless, City sporting director Txiki Begiristain will fly out to Madrid this week to attempt to secure a deal for the 25-year-old.
