Sunderland are chasing Manchester City winger Adam Johnson, according to The Metro.
The 24-year-old has been in and out of the Citizens' lineup this season and reports suggest that Roberto Mancini is frustrated with his inconsistent form.
"I'm not arguing with Adam because also Adam has a good talent," said Mancini. "But also it's important he puts this on the pitch, this talent. Sometimes he doesn't do this."
Martin O'Neill is said to be watching the situation closely and could make a move for the winger, who could be allowed to leave for as little as £7m.
