Tom Cleverley says that he would urge any young player to try to be a part of Team GB at the Rio De Janeiro Olympics in 2016.

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has hailed the experience of representing Team GB at the Olympics.

The 23-year-old, who is preparing to make his England debut on Wednesday, was part of the Great Britain side that took part in the London Games and lost on penalties in the quarter-finals.

Team GB has received criticism, with many feeling that players could play too many games in the off-season. However, Cleverley is adamant that he would recommend any young player to be a part of Team GB.

"I would advise every player to play in it," he said. "If there's a team going to Rio in four years, and I was a young player, I'd want to go.

"I'm not too sure what the situation is, but if there's a Team GB going and a young player at United asked me about it, I'd advise them to go. It was unbelievable, something I look back on, even only a couple of weeks after, as being just amazing.

"We prepared for games very differently to those at Premier League clubs, but it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I've played six games, so I feel match fit."

Cleverley missed much of last season through injury.
