Albania: 'We want Adnan Januzaj'

The Albanian FA release a statement saying that they want Adnan Januzaj to play for them.

The Albanian FA have revealed that they want Manchester United teenager Adnan Januzaj to play for them on the international stage.

The United winger has made several headlines of late, with a debate surrounding his eligibility to play for both England and Belgium, as well as Albania.

Due to the 18-year-old's heritage, he can also play for Turkey, Serbia and Croatia, but the Albanian FA have made a statement urging Januzaj to choose the country where his father was born.

"We are ready to accept anything just to have the young, talented Januzaj become part of our national team, so he can contribute for the future of the Albanian football," an Albanian FA spokesperson told reporters.

"As we did with other players already playing for the national team, we will continue our job with no hesitation or any influence on us, in order to have Adnan Januzaj wear the black and red shirt, so he can honour himself, his family and the flag of his heritage."

FIFA's residency rules mean that Januzaj could turn out for the Three Lions, which recently led to an online debate between Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere and former England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen.
