Newly-appointed Netherlands coach Danny Blind has revealed that he was offered a position on Louis van Gaal's Manchester United coaching staff.
The former Ajax player, who is also the father of current United player Daley Blind, was named as Guus Hiddink's successor earlier this week.
"I had a fantastic offer from Manchester United. There were talks about United and Van Gaal a couple of times last year, but I rejected that," The Telegraph quotes the 53-year-old as saying.
"If you have ambition, what is more beautiful than becoming manager of your country?"
Blind will take charge of his first Euro 2016 qualifier when the Netherlands host Iceland on September 3.
