Ilkay Gundogan has backed his former Borussia Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan to make a "big, big impact" at Manchester United.
Mkhitaryan is widely expected to become one of Jose Mourinho's summer signings at Old Trafford, with reports claiming that the club will triple the midfielder's wages.
Gundogan played alongside Mkhitaryan at Dortmund before joining Manchester City this summer, and the 25-year-old expects to go head to head with the midfielder in the Premier League in the 2016-17 campaign.
"Maybe [Mkhitaryan] was the most important player for us last year," the Manchester Evening News quotes Gundogan as saying. "If he can go on like this, he will have a big, big impact for Manchester United, and a big plus. I wish him the best, and to stay healthy."
Mourinho has already signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly since taking over as manager in May.
