Manchester United youth coach backs James Wilson for big things

Manchester United Under-21 manager Warren Joyce is confident that youth team product James Wilson can become a superstar at Old Trafford.

Manchester United Under-21 boss Warren Joyce believes that teenage striker James Wilson has what it takes to make it at Old Trafford after the 18-year-old was promoted to the senior squad this summer.

Despite the array of attacking talent now available to Louis van Gaal, Joyce sees big things down the line for the academy product.

"He is still a young boy with a lot of natural talent," he is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News. "He can still improve but he wants to do that and he can do it this year.

"Wilson is unbelievable in the six-yard box. He's got the best standing spring you've ever seen in your life. He is very explosive, an out-and-out goalscorer with good pace and he's good size, too.

"At 6'2", he'll be a big strong boy in a few years' time. If he keeps his head down he could be a superstar in a few years. He's got a lot of work to do yet, but he could be as good as anyone who's played for this club in a long, long time."

United now have considerable depth in forward positions, but Reds legend Paul Scholes believes that Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao can't play together in the same lineup.
