Manchester United hope to confirm Louis van Gaal as manager today?

Manchester United are reportedly hopeful of finally announcing the appointment of new manager Louis van Gaal today.

Manchester United are reportedly hopeful of finally confirming the appointment of Louis van Gaal as the club's new manager today.

The Netherlands boss was expected to be announced as David Moyes's permanent successor last week, but the impending move was delayed due to reported tax details and decisions regarding the futures of coaching staff.

Numerous reports have claimed that current interim boss Ryan Giggs will be installed as Van Gaal's number two, while the positions of coaches Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and goalkeeping coach Chris Woods remain uncertain.

According to The Telegraph, United officials and the Dutch Football Federation are hoping to seal the appointment today while Van Gaal's Netherlands squad have the day off before they fly to Portugal on Tuesday for their pre-World Cup training camp.

Reports have claimed that Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben is one of United's main transfer targets this summer.
