David Moyes: 'Wayne Rooney fit for Tottenham Hotspur'

Manchester United boss David Moyes expects Wayne Rooney to be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day.

Manchester United boss David Moyes has revealed that he expects Wayne Rooney to be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day.

The England international missed his side's 1-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday with "an abductor injury", but Moyes is hopeful that the 28-year-old will be available to face Spurs at Old Trafford.

"He has an abductor injury to his groin. It's not serious and I think he'll be fit for New Year's Day," Moyes told reporters at a press conference.

"Ideally we'd have given him two or three weeks to recover completely. But he has been so influential for the team."

United's win over Norwich moved them into sixth spot in the table, just two points off the top four.
