Neville: Manchester United will not reach top four

Gary Neville has said that former club Manchester United will not get into next season's Champions League.

Manchester United will fail to finish in the top four this season, according to former captain and club legend Gary Neville.

The Red Devils beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on Saturday to move into sixth place, but still trail fourth-placed Liverpool by eight points.

And Neville believes that it will take an unlikely run for David Moyes's side to turn around their flagging league season by qualifying for Europe's premier club competition.

He told talkSPORT: "They're making mistakes in most matches at the moment and unless they go on a ridiculous run and win every match and the teams above them implode, I don't think they will get in the Champions League.

"If you said to the fans six months ago, Man United won't get into the Champions League they would have been shell-shocked, but I think there is a realisation it would be a fantastic turnaround of incredible proportions if they were to get into the Champions League.

"They've resigned themselves to the fact they're not going to be in it."

Liverpool could extend the deficit to United 11 points with a win over Swansea on Sunday.
