Mauricio Pochettino: 'Jose Mourinho fallout in the past'

Mauricio Pochettino insists that there is no longer a rift between him and Jose Mourinho after accusing the Portuguese of deliberately "unsettling" one of his players.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he has a "very good" relationship with Jose Mourinho ahead of this weekend's clash with Manchester United.

The 45-year-old revealed in his new book that he was unhappy with Mourinho's conduct when allegedly "unsettling" midfielder Eric Dier after a league match at Old Trafford last December.

Pochettino claims that both men have now moved on from the incident and there is no rift between them, however, as Spurs attempt to return to winning ways following their midweek EFL Cup defeat to London rivals West Ham United.

"That is a thing that is in the past," he told reporters. "I was honest. My relationship with him is very good, we are in contact. That was only one situation, a small one. It is not an issue. I don't like to speak about my book because it is in the past. The book only tried to show how difficult it is for every manager.

"Not only me. The intention is a book that can help a lot of people understand how our life is. You can read in my book how he is, for me, one of the best managers in the world – admired like [Pep] Guardiola. I am not perfect, I am human too."

Pochettino will be without star striker Harry Kane for Saturday lunchtime's trip to the Theatre of Dreams, as he misses out through injury.
