Alexis Sanchez admits to 'worst' period of career

Alexis Sanchez admits to enduring the 'worst' period of his career at Manchester United last season.

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has admitted to enduring the 'worst' spell of his career during the last season at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old scored just one goal for the Red Devils last season and fell out of favour following the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, finding himself on the bench for eight of the last 11 games of the campaign.

The Chilean has consequently been linked with an exit this summer, although his hefty wages of £400,000 a week - agreed as part of his move from Arsenal in January 2018 - are believed to be putting off potential suitors.

Sanchez is currently away with Chile at the Copa America and spoke to reporters after ending his goal drought in a 4-0 win over Japan on Monday night.

"For six weeks I felt worse than I ever have before," he said.

"I struggled in the first half as I felt stifled but in the second half I was more relaxed and played with more freedom and excitement."

Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus are among the sides credited with an interest in Sanchez this summer.
