Neville Southall: 'Gareth Bale would suit Real Madrid'

Neville Southall believes that Gareth Bale would suit playing for Real Madrid, though also said that a move to another Premier League club is likely.

Former Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall has said that he believes Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale would be a perfect fit for Real Madrid.

Reports in the past have linked Real Madrid, along with rivals Barcelona, with a move for Bale.

Southall insisted that the Welshman would suit playing in the Bernabeu, though also said that he may want to stay in Britain and join the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.

"Well if you had Cristiano Ronaldo on the right wing and Bale on the left wing that would be some team for Real Madrid, wouldn't it?" Southall told Goal.com.

"The only reason Gareth would consider leaving Tottenham, because he wants to start winning things.

"He might actually prefer to stay in Britain, whether that be Manchester United or Manchester City, which is obviously closer to Cardiff than Barcelona and Real Madrid, and we know that he's a home boy."

The 23-year-old moved to White Hart Lane from Southampton in 2007.
