Manchester United have moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
United almost took the lead after just ten minutes when Javier Hernandez saw his effort rebound off the woodwork before being saved by Paul Robinson.
It was left for David De Gea to save his side twice in quick succession just before half time, first from Marcus Olsson and then, from the resulting corner, he tipped over Hanley's goalbound header.
Both sides continued to push for the opener, with only a last-ditch tackle from Rio Ferdinand denying Yakubu what looked like being a certain goal.
The champions finally got the opener with ten minutes left when Antonio Valencia's swerving shot flew past Robinson into the Blackburn net.
United doubled their lead less than five minutes later when Ashley Young fired a low shot off the post and in to give United the initiative in the title race.
The result extends the Red Devils' lead at the top of the league table, while Blackburn drop back into the relegation zone, replacing Queens Park Rangers on goal difference.
