Manchester United have been held to a 1-1 draw by Huddersfield Town in Sunday's Premier League encounter at the John Smith's Stadium.

Scott McTominay put United into an early lead, but a second-half equaliser from Isaac Mbenza earned Huddersfield a share of the spoils.

The result means that United cannot qualify for next season's Champions League, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side sitting four points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with one match remaining.

Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the Premier League between Huddersfield Town and Manchester United. The home side have already been relegated, but United head into this fixture knowing that they need to return to winning ways to give themselves a realistic chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League. The two sets of players are making their way out onto the pitch at the John Smith's Stadium, so let's see who features in each starting lineup...

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN XI: Lossl; Durm, Schindler, Kongolo, Lowe; Mooy, Hogg, Bacuna; Pritchard, Grant, Mbenza

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN SUBSTITUTES: Coleman, Smith, Stankovic, Daly, Kachunga, Diakhaby, Mounie

MANCHESTER UNITED XI: De Gea; Young, Lindelof, Jones, Shaw; McTominay, Matic; Mata, Pogba, Sanchez; Rashford

MANCHESTER UNITED SUBSTITUTES: Grant, Dalot, Smalling, Herrera, Fred, Pereira, Chong

KICKOFF:  Huddersfield get us underway!

United are bossing the early exchanges at the John Smith's Stadium. One early attack came to nothing, but the visitors have wasted no time in getting themselves back on the ball.

Schindler goes in late on Sanchez around 35 yards from goal and United have a free kick. Pogba or Rashford are going to try their luck.

SHOT!  Rashford takes responsibility for the set piece, but the England international's strike is relatively weak and straight at Lossl.

Huddersfield are certainly looking to put themselves about a bit during these early stages. Bacuna is fortunate to avoid a yellow for clattering into McTominay.

GOAL!  HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED (SCOTT MCTOMINAY)

GOAL!  That is how you react to being fouled. United go straight up the other end with Mata teeing up McTominay on the edge of the area. The Scotland international is able to move into the area before finding the bottom corner with a left-footed strike. However, Lossl has made a complete hash of trying to keep it out.

It is still early days but United look like a team on a mission this afternoon. Huddersfield have conceded a goal inside the first 10 minutes for the third game in succession.

The visitors win a couple of corners, and the second should probably lead to a shot on goal. However, Lindelof miscontrols when attempting to chest the ball, and the opportunity is lost.

Huddersfield cannot get near United at the moment. Solskjaer's side have also won another free kick in a threatening position after a foul on Rashford.

Nothing comes from the resulting set piece with Mata firing his effort into the wall. However, United again waste no time in getting back on the ball.

Hogg takes Pogba out when the Frenchman was struggling to keep hold of possession. The Huddersfield man gives the referee an earful for some reason. He is lucky to avoid a yellow card.

United are already up to five corners. They have looked dangerous from each one of them. That said, Huddersfield have started to improve ever so slightly.

Huddersfield put together an attack down the left thanks to some good play from Mbenza, but Lowe's cross is poor and easily cleared by United.

SHOT!  This is a bit greedy from Bacuna, but you cannot blame him for taking the shot. Space opened up around 35 yards, but the midfielder could only send a weak effort wide of De Gea's left-hand post.

CHANCE!  United hit back with Pogba and Rashford combining to tee up Mata for a left-footed effort on the edge of the area. However, the Spaniard cannot get enough curl on the ball and his strike goes wide of the far post.

It feels only a matter of time before United double their advantage. They are almost toying with Huddersfield in the final third.

Much better from Huddersfield as Grant breaks free into the penalty area. The January signing crosses for Mbenza who is arriving towards the six-yard box, but Lindelof defends the situation well.

SHOT!  Bacuna's long-range effort is deflected wide of the post, but Rashford is able to clear the resulting set piece. Still, this is better from the Terriers.

YELLOW CARD!  Jones goes into the book for a lunge on Hogg, although there is very little in it.

Huddersfield have been the better side over the past five or six minutes. They have upped the tempo of their play, and United are now struggling to get hold of the ball.

United almost create a chance down the other end when Rashford attempts to take the ball past Lossl, but the goalkeeper is able to get enough on the ball to deal with the danger.

Pritchard gets down the right and sends a threatening low cross towards Mbenza, who again arrives late from the left. However, Lindelof gets another crucial foot to the ball ahead of the attacker.

CHANCE!  It should be 1-1. Jones puts his side in danger with a poor pass and it leads to Grant being played through on goal. However, the striker's low strike from 12 yards is too close to De Gea who saves with his right foot.

OFF THE BAR!  Now United hit the crossbar! Mata's outswinging cross from the left finds Pogba, who manages to hit the crossbar with a header from 12 yards.

Huddersfield's threat continues to come down the right, and Lindelof again has to react well to make the interception. The Swede has been excellent during this first half.

There will be two minutes of added-on time.

Huddersfield win a late corner after more good play down the right. They play it short, but Rashford makes the block at the near post.

HALF TIME:  Huddersfield Town 0-1 Manchester United

The half-time whistle goes in Yorkshire and United lead thanks to an early goal from McTominay. The visitors should probably have two or three to their name, but Huddersfield deserve credit from improving during the closing 15 minutes of the half.

Chelsea and Watford are currently in action at Stamford Bridge, and that game is goalless at the break. Click here to take a look at what occurred during the opening 45 minutes.

As it stands, United will move to within two points of third-placed Tottenham Hotspur, with Chelsea currently holding fourth spot by a point. Arsenal can only remain in the mix with victory over Brighton & Hove Albion later today.

KICKOFF:  United get us back underway. Huddersfield have made a change with Smith replacing Durm at right-back.

SHOT!  The visitors go in search of a second, but Shaw's shot from the corner of the penalty area was always heading wide.

LATEST! Chelsea have scored two goals in four minutes against Watford! Ruben Loftus-Cheek and David Luiz have got on the scoresheet. As it stands, the Blues are moving into third position. Click here to follow our coverage of that game.

SHOT!  Huddersfield are also throwing caution to the wind. Bacuna surges forward before teeing up Grant, but the forward curls the ball marginally over the top of the crossbar from 18 yards out.

SUBSTITUTIONS! United are being forced into two substitutions. Matic and Sanchez have both picked up injuries, and Herrera and Chong are the players to replace them.

SHOT!  United work a situation on the edge of the area for Herrera to get a shot away from 25 yards, but the substitute slices his attempt well wide.

SHOT!  Now Rashford tees up Pogba who sends a shot just wide of the target from 20 yards. United are stepping things up.

This has been a strange performance from United. At times, they have looked in total control but when they lose their way, they do not look like a top-six team.

GOAL!  HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED (ISAAC MBENZA)

Isaac Mbenza equalises during the Premier League game between Huddersfield Town and Manchester United on May 5, 2019© Reuters

GOAL!  Huddersfield have equalised! A long ball from Lossl is not dealt with by Shaw, and it allows Mbenza to run clear on goal. The attacker takes his time before slotting the ball through the legs of De Gea.

We are having a lengthy break in play while the corner flag is replaced. Mbenza has destroyed it while celebrating his first-ever Premier League goal.

We are still waiting to get back underway. Someone has been sent down the tunnel to find a new corner flag. We are going to have at least five minutes of added-on time.

There are huge cheers from the crowd as the new corner flag goes into its hole. I didn't think that I would ever be writing that...

It should be remembered that United currently need to win this game in order to remain in the hunt for a top-four place. They need a goal here, or a Watford comeback at Stamford Bridge.

Just the 20 minutes to go now. It's a weird atmosphere at the John Smith's Stadium. United are showing little urgency, and the Huddersfield fans are singing "we're going down".

CHANCE!  United should be back in front. Young's inswinging delivery is not the best but it finds Jones, who diverts the ball over the crossbar from about six yards out.

CHANCE!  Another chance goes begging for United. Mata's cross finds Rashford around eight yards from goal, but the forward sends his first-time effort wide of the far post.

LATEST! Chelsea have further extended their lead against Watford with Gonzalo Higuain getting on the scoresheet. It means that United need to score during the closing stages or it will be Europa League football for Solskjaer's team next season.

A long stoppage due to an injury to McTominay has resulted in a drop in the pace of this game. United need to change things up, and Pereira is waiting to be introduced.

Don't rule out a winner for Huddersfield either. Mbenza has just run half the length of the pitch to win a corner for his side. He has played very well this afternoon.

SHOT!  Word has got round to these United players that they desperately need a goal. Rashford tries his luck from distance, but Lossl is able to punch the ball away from the far corner.

SUBSTITUTION! Dalot is the man who is being introduced for United. Lindelof has picked up a knock.

McTominay continues to plod on for United, but the midfielder sees his effort at the near post blocked by a defender. Lossl would have probably made the block regardless.

Huddersfield would no doubt take the positives if they register a point from this game, but their fans want them to go all out for the win.

CHANCE!  It leads to Chong being able to beat the offside trap and run through on goal. The youngster does everything right and aims a shot towards the far corner, but Lossl makes a tremendous save down to his left.

OFF THE BAR!  United are pushing hard here. The next chance falls to Pogba who hits the crossbar with a first-time effort from 20 yards out. Lossl got nowhere near that.

CHANCE!  Huddersfield go straight down the other end with Grant being denied by the feet of De Gea. We are being treated to some finish!

SUBSTITUTION! Huddersfield make their second change with Diakhaby replacing Mbenza.

There will be EIGHT minutes of added-on time.

YELLOW CARD!  Lossl goes into the book for time-wasting. It is greeted by a loud cheer from the home fans. They have enjoyed themselves this afternoon!

SHOT!  The ball bounces invitingly for Herrera inside the area, but the midfielder scuffs a volley straight at Lossl.

SHOT!  Rashford tries his luck from the corner of the area, but Lossl makes a confident save down to his right. The Huddersfield stopper has been brilliant since his earlier mistake.

FULL TIME:  Huddersfield Town 1-1 Manchester United

The full-time whistle goes at the John Smith's Stadium and Huddersfield have held on for a morale-boosting draw against Man United. It means that United will not feature in next season's Champions League. It's a massive blow for Solskjaer.

That will be all from Sports Mole for this match. Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you again soon.
