Marouane Fellaini: 'Arsenal wanted to sign me'

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini reveals that Arsenal rivalled the Red Devils for his signature earlier this summer.

Marouane Fellaini has revealed that Arsenal rivalled Manchester United for his signature in the summer, but remains adamant that he made the right choice in reuniting with David Moyes at Old Trafford.

The Belgian midfielder completed a £27.5m move from Everton to United on transfer deadline day, eventually deciding to force through a reunion with former Toffees boss Moyes in Manchester.

Fellaini was left on the bench during last weekend's 3-2 victory over Stoke City but believes that he and Moyes will get things right at United.

He told The Sun: "I knew United were interested in signing me, just as Arsenal were. But it was United who snapped me up.

"David Moyes did everything to get me. I leapt at the chance to work with Moyes. I spent some fantastic times with him at Everton.

"Moyes will succeed given time. He is trying to continue Alex Ferguson's work as manager. We may not be top of the league but we are not far off."

The 25-year-old is still searching for his first goal since signing for the Red Devils, six appearances into his United career.
