Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to make new signings this summer.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he will look to bring in new players this summer regardless of whether they win the Premier League or not.

United are still chasing the title and must win their final game of the season at Sunderland next Sunday to have any chance of overtaking Manchester City.

Despite whatever happens next weekend, Ferguson already appears to be making plans for the summer.

"We'll assess where we're going with that in terms of players. No doubt we'll be bringing players in. Maybe one or two. Maybe three, who knows? It depends on the kind of market we're dealing with, of course, and player availability," said Ferguson.

"But obviously [Paul] Scholes and [Ryan] Giggs are coming to an end so we have to guard against that anyway - that's a fact.

"[Tom} Cleverley has got fantastic potential as a young man, he can provide us with something. [Michael] Carrick is still 31 and there's years' worth in Carrick - he is in very consistent form now. We will probably add someone to the squad."

United kept the pace with City on Sunday after beating Swansea 2-0 at Old Trafford.
