Benedikt Howedes: 'If I were to leave Schalke 04, England would be my goal'

Schalke 04 centre-back Benedikt Howedes suggests that moving to England would be a goal of his if he ever were to leave the Bundesliga club.

Schalke 04 defender Benedikt Howedes has suggested that he would like to move to England if he were to ever leave the German club.

The commanding centre-back is thought to be a potential transfer target for both Manchester United and Arsenal, with the Germany international stating that he could not play for another Bundesliga side given his admiration for Schalke.

"If I am to leave Schalke one day, I do not want to move clubs within the Bundesliga," said Howedes, according to the Daily Star.

"Schalke is too close to my heart to do so. But a move abroad at a certain time would be worth an experience. England would be my goal."

Howedes has notched 192 appearances for 04 and a further 32 for his national team.
