Manchester City 'join race for Kai Havertz'

Manchester City allegedly become the latest club to register an interest in Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz.

Manchester City have reportedly identified Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz as a potential transfer target.

With the Germany international having established himself as Leverkusen's key man, there has inevitably been widespread interest in the 20-year-old's signature.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all said to be among the clubs monitoring the development of the player, who could cost in the region of £70m.

According to The Sun, City are ready to join the race for Havertz over the coming months as they consider strengthening in the final third.

Pep Guardiola is aware that he may have to find a replacement for Leroy Sane due to the winger having just over a year left on his contract.

Havertz has contributed eight goals and five assists from 23 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.
