Barcelona eye move for Eliaquim Mangala?

Manchester United and Manchester City could miss out on Porto's Eliaquim Mangala following reports that Barcelona are interested in the defender.

Manchester United and Manchester City could reportedly miss out on Porto's Eliaquim Mangala following reports that Barcelona are tracking the defender.

The 23-year-old is said to have attracted interest from Manchester, but Spanish giants Barca are said to have placed Mangala on a five-man shortlist.

According to Sport, the Catalan giants are considering Mangala as a potential replacement for captain Carles Puyol, who at 35 years old is expected to be coming towards the end of his career at Camp Nou.

City were reportedly close to a deadline-day double swoop for the defender and Porto teammate Fernando in January, but the proposed £50m deal never materialised.
