Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Roma centre-back Antonio Rudiger when the transfer window opens in January.
Manager Jose Mourinho is thought to be planning a major shake-up of his defence, with Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian all in line to be dropped as a new centre-back and right-back are brought in.
According to the Daily Mail, Rudiger is "under consideration" as a potential target by Mourinho and "will be watched regularly by United spies" between now and the opening of the window.
The 23-year-old is also being tracked by Chelsea and although the Serie A side are keen to keep him, it is thought that a bid of around £35m could convince them to sell.
Rudiger has notched up 11 caps for the Germany national side and was due to feature at Euro 2016 before being forced to withdraw from the squad with a knee injury.
