Pep Guardiola backs Bastian Schweinsteiger to succeed at Manchester United

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola believes that Bastian Schweinsteiger will be a big success in England should he keep injury free.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has backed Bastian Schweinsteiger to be a success at Manchester United if he can put his injury woes behind him.

The 31-year-old brought an end to his 13-year tenure with the Bavarian club this summer when he signed a three-year, £14.4m deal to move to the Premier League.

"He is a top player, unfortunately last two years he had problems with his injuries," Guardiola told reporters. "When he is in good condition he is a big star and is a really good player."

German international Schweinsteiger made just 15 appearances with Bayern in his final season due to knee and ankle injuries.
