Manchester United are keeping an eye on Lionel Messi's Barcelona future and could make a move to the bring the forward to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports.
Messi has been linked with a move away from Catalonia in recent weeks and he sparked fresh speculation at the Ballon d'Or awards by suggesting that he doesn't know where he will be playing next season.
The Guardian says that United are monitoring the situation as they are the only Premier League club who could afford to pay Messi's buy-out clause of £195m in one lump sum, and avoid any problems posed by Financial Fair Play which would restrict both Chelsea and Manchester City.
United boss Louis van Gaal has been told that there is no limit to his spending powers, as the club's healthy accounts assure them that any deal for Messi would be viable.
Messi has scored 25 goals for Barcelona this season.
