Manchester United are reportedly planning to step up their pursuit of Southampton left-back Luke Shaw in a bid to seal his services before the start of the World Cup next month.
The Red Devils are believed to have lodged an offer in the region of £27m just hours after the final day of the Premier League season on May 11.
According to the Daily Echo, the Saints are expecting fresh attempts from United in the coming days, but club officials would prefer to sort out the future of manager Mauricio Pochettino before dealing with transfers.
United, who confirmed the appointment of Louis van Gaal as manager on a three-year deal on Monday, are said to be confident of securing a pre-World Cup deal for the 18-year-old defender.
With regards to Pochettino's future, the Argentine is reported to have been offered fresh terms at St Mary's but is yet to sign amid rumours that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the coach.
Meanwhile, captain Adam Lallana is said to be wanted by Liverpool.
