Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to battle Manchester United in the race to sign Inter Milan defender Diego Godin.

Inter Milan defender Diego Godin has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur.

During his first campaign at San Siro, Godin has made 25 appearances in all competitions, 17 of which have come in Serie A and the Champions League.

However, with the Uruguayan not regarded as a natural fit for Antonio Conte's 3-4-3 formation, it has been suggested that the 34-year-old will be allowed to leave during the next transfer window.

According to Corriere dello Sport, this has alerted Spurs, who are likely to lose Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer at the end of the season.

At a time when he is also looking to strengthen in other areas of the pitch, Jose Mourinho is open to signing the veteran for a cut-price fee.

Manchester United are allegedly monitoring the situation as they look for extra competition for Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly.
