Louis van Gaal wants four signings before World Cup return

New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal reportedly instructs Ed Woodward to sign four players before his return from the World Cup.

New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has said that he wants four new signings in place at the club by the time he returns from the World Cup, according to a report.

The Netherlands manager will be in Brazil with his side until at least the end of the June, but has instructed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to bring in four targets to Old Trafford within the next month.

Van Gaal wants the Red Devils to beat Liverpool to the signing of Yevhen Konoplyanka and also is after the signatures of Germany internationals Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mats Hummels, according to The Mirror.

Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman is also a target of the 62-year-old, but his injury problems may cause a delay in the deal, while United have also reportedly been offered Cesc Fabregas.

Van Gaal was appointed as manager of the Red Devils last month.
