Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton are reportedly at the head of the queue to sign highly-rated Orlando City forward Daryl Dike.
The USA international spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan at Championship outfit Barnsley, where he struck nine goals in 19 appearances during the Tykes' successful push for the playoffs.
However, Barnsley suffered semi-final heartbreak at the hands of Swansea City, meaning that they cannot afford to trigger his £18m option to buy clause.
According to TEAMtalk, Dike is looking to secure a permanent move to a club in Europe after his successful exploits at Oakwell, with Wolves and Everton leading the pack after Manchester United focused their interests elsewhere.
The report adds that Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Southampton are all in the race to bring the 20-year-old to the Premier League, but clubs in Germany are also keeping a close eye on the situation.
Dike, who made his debut for the US national team earlier this year, scored eight goals and assisted three more for Orlando City in 17 appearances during the 2020 MLS season.
