Morocco facing two-tournament Africa Cup of Nations ban

Morocco will face a ban from the next two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, according to Confederation of African Football president Issa Hayatou.

Confederation of African Football president Issa Hayatou has said that Morocco will be banned from competing in the next two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

The country was due to host the 2015 tournament in January, but they were expelled from participating after asking for the event to be postponed following the outbreak of the Ebola virus on the continent.

Equatorial Guinea has since been confirmed as the new host of the tournament, but Hayatou still wants Morocco to face a ban and a financial punishment.

"We are going to stick to the rules, that means elimination from the next two Nations Cups," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"On top of that there will be the financial and moral damages to calculate."

Nigeria are the current champions of Africa, having won the last tournament in 2013.
