Newcastle United's Shola Ameobi not getting complacent

Shola Ameobi insists that Newcastle United are keeping their feet on the ground despite climbing up to fifth in the Premier League.

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has insisted that he and his teammates are not getting carried away with their current position in the Premier League table.

Alan Pardew's side moved up to fifth in the standings with a 2-1 home win against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

"Winning four in a row will shoot you up the table but we're not getting carried away," Ameobi told Sky Sports News. "We'll enjoy this one tonight, being fifth in the table is fantastic.

"We've got a quick game coming up on Wednesday [against Swansea City] that we've got to get ready for and we're looking forward to that. It's been a fantastic November for us.

"A lot has been made of our consistency and I think we've proved we're a side that can bring it week in week out, and that was a tough game for us but we've grinded it out and we're all delighted."

Newcastle are just a point behind fourth-placed Everton.
