Tim Krul: 'Tottenham Hotspur win highlight of my career'

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul declares that a match-winning display against Tottenham Hotspur was the highlight of his career so far.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has declared that keeping Tottenham Hotspur at bay this afternoon was the the highlight of his career to date.

Krul made a string of fine saves from the likes of Roberto Soldado and Andros Townsend as Newcastle held firm for a 1-0 win in North London, courtesy of an early strike from Loic Remy.

He told The Mirror: "This is the highlight of my career. It was nice to celebrate with the back four. These kind of games don't happen very often.

"It was a great result. The first save was the best, Soldado's header. The sun was low, and it kick-started from there. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa put his body on the line to clear one and it shows the commitment, from the back five to the strikers.

"I think we have played better, against Sunderland we played well and lost. If we keep a clean sheet we can win games."

Alan Pardew's side climbed to ninth in the Premier League with today's win, with the Newcastle boss also praising Krul's "brilliant" display and insisting that his number one is the best Dutch keeper around.
