Newcastle make a number of arrangements to pay tribute to the late Gary Speed before kickoff against Chelsea at the weekend.

Newcastle United have confirmed that they will carry out a special tribute to former player and late Wales manager Gary Speed before their clash against Chelsea on Saturday.

The Premier League side will play the Welsh hymn 'Bread of Heaven' before a minute's applause in commemoration of the life and career of the ex-Newcastle midfielder.

During the tribute, supporters in the East Stand will be requested to hold up black and white cards displaying a giant mosaic of the number eleven, which was Speed's shirt number during his career with the Magpies.

The 42-year-old is believed to have taken his own life at his home in Cheshire on Sunday morning.
