Newcastle United have agreed a fee with Bordeaux to sign Yoan Gouffran, reports have claimed.
Speculation over the last 24 hours had suggested that the Magpies had failed with a bid in the region of £630,000 for the 26-year-old, whose contract with his French employers is due to expire in the summer.
However, a host of media outlets have now said that the centre-forward is travelling to England for talks with manager Alan Pardew and a medical examination.
Should the deal go through, Gouffran will act as a replacement for Demba Ba, who joined Chelsea earlier this month.
Gouffran signed for Bordeaux from Caen in June 2008.
