Argentine outfit San Lorenzo end their interest in Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini.

Argentine outfit San Lorenzo have revealed that they have ended their interest in Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini.

It had been suggested that the experienced centre-back would return to the club where his father is currently a youth coach.

However, the club tweeted: "Finally, after long negotiations, we announce that Fabricio Coloccini will not join the roster of San Lorenzo.

"It is not possible to release the Newcastle player... and therefore the club will look for another alternative to strengthen the defence."

Coloccini has been one of Newcastle's steadiest performers in a disappointing season to date.
