Religious protests planned over Sunday's Northern Ireland game

Religious protests are expected to be held prior to Northern Ireland's Euro 2016 qualifier against Finland on Sunday.

Northern Ireland's game against Finland on Sunday is expected to be marred by religious protests before kickoff.

The Euro 2016 qualifier will be held at Windsor Park in Belfast and it is the first time that the nation have played a home game on a Sunday.

A statement from the Evangelical Protestant Society read: "Far too many sporting and social events are now organised on Sundays with scant regard for the rights of evangelicals."

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill told the Belfast Telegraph: "We appreciate and understand people's religious beliefs, but the game must be played on Sunday, as that date was decreed when the fixture was made by UEFA."

Northern Ireland are currently second in Group F, one point behind leaders Romania.
