Alex Neil hails "excellent" Dieumerci Mbokani

Norwich City manager Alex Neil heaps praise on Dieumerci Mbokani after the striker scored less than two weeks after being caught up in the Brussels terrorist attacks.

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has heaped praise on striker Dieumerci Mbokani following his performance in this afternoon's dramatic 3-2 victory over Newcastle United.

The 30-year-old started for the Canaries at Carrow Road less than two weeks after being at Brussels Airport when terrorist attacks caused the deaths of 32 people there and at a busy metro station in the city.

He marked the occasion with a goal too, putting his side 2-1 ahead before the late drama that saw Martin Olsson eventually steal victory in the 93rd minute.

"What I said to [Mbokani] was, whatever goes on in your personal life, off the field, you've always got football to fall back on - that's your release. Just go out, enjoy the game, play and do what you do," Neil told reporters.

"I thought he was great. His goal was magnificent and I thought his performance was magnificent. I thought he was excellent."

Norwich's victory leaves them four points clear of the relegation zone, although Sunderland and Newcastle both have a game in hand over the Canaries.
