Former Cardiff City manager is set to be named the new boss of Norwich City this week, according to reports.
Current Canaries coach Chris Hughton has come under pressure for an indifferent run of results and, despite recently beating fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, the Daily Mail says that the ex-Newcastle United supremo will be sacked should the team lose at Aston Villa.
Hughton's future with the Norfolk outfit was undermined by the recent comments of his chief executive David McNally, who said that he would be keeping his managerial options open, and it seems that Mackay is now thought to be a prime candidate.
Last week, Celtic manager Neil Lennon was heavily linked with taking over at Norwich, but was said to be reluctant to give up his current position with Scottish champions Celtic.
